June 19, 2018: Heavy Rainfall Across the Southern Tier of Texas
SPONSORED CONTENT A very disorganized area of tropical moisture in the western Gulf of Mexico will slowly drift northward this week. The satellite image below shows water vapor (in green) over Texas and the western Gulf.

While this is not a named tropical system, it does have the potential for very heavy rain over from South Texas and all along the Gulf Coast. The 7-Day forecast for this week’s rainfall is below and shows the maximum rainfall amounts are expected to be fairly close to Corpus Christi — currently in Extreme Drought.

Rainfall from this weak system could result in much-needed rain for parts of South Texas, however, very dry soils can only absorb a limited amount of rain — so pooling of water and urban flooding could be an issue.
