The rise in production and the increase in the Jan. 1 U.S. beef cow inventory was right where CattleFax expected — 31.2 million head. This increase in production fundamentally shows where the industry is going in the near future with beef production. This is not just beef. Total meat production levels are expected to increase through the balance of the decade. By 2018, the meat industry will produce about 200 million more pound per week than it averaged from 2007-2014.
