Strong spring storms and tornadoes moved through portions of East Texas on Saturday, causing widespread damage in Cherokee, Houston and Angelina counties. Area ranchers are in desperate need of fencing supplies to replace downed fences to contain livestock. The Cherokee County AgriLife Extension Service has set up a supply point to receive fencing supplies in Alto. If you are able to donate, please contact the extension office at 903-683-5416. Fencing supplies can be dropped off directly across from Alto City Hall on Hwy. 21.
