As the primary election draws near, TSCRA leaders and staff are continuing to monitor a number competitive races and are working to ensure issues important to ranchers are a part of the conversation, especially with regard to private property rights. Members have access to our voting recommendations, so be sure to check those out if you haven’t already.
TSCRA also this week signed onto letters this week to the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, advocating for their strong support of USDA Wildlife Services. “Wildlife causes more than $12.8 billion in damage each year to natural resources, public infrastructures, private property and agriculture. USDA Wildlife Services (WS) works to prevent, minimize or manage this damage and to protect human health and safety from conflicts with wildlife.” Click or tap to ready the House letter and Senate letter.
Finally, late yesterday, Gregg Doud was confirmed as the Chief Agricultural Negotiator for the U. S. Trade Representative. This is great news and means that U.S. beef will be well represented in current and future trade negotiations. TSCRA’s statement is available here. The seventh round of NAFTA talks are going on in Mexico now, and we are closely monitoring the progress.
