Hot and dry weather affected most of the state during the past week. High winds affected some field crops in areas of the Low Plains. Precipitation was low throughout most of the state, but areas of the Southern Plains and the Edwards Plateau received up to 1.5 inches of rain, with isolated areas getting upwards of 3 inches. There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork. Livestock conditions remained mostly good to fair across the state. Fly and mosquito numbers remained high in North East Texas and the Northern Low Plains. Supplemental feeding was reported in the Northern Low Plains, North East Texas, The Edwards Plateau and South Texas. Pasture and range condition was rated 63 percent fair to poor. Read more…
