TAHC Reminder: Equine CVIs valid for 30 days

Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) would like to remind you that Equine Certificates of Veterinary Inspection (CVIs or Health Certificates) are valid for 30 days.

On June 30, 2015, TAHC’s rules were changed for equine entering the state to conform with USDA rules. Equine entering the state of Texas must possess a valid CVI which was issued 30 days ago or less. This rule was changed from 45 days to 30 days to prevent the spread of a number of viral diseases with shorter incubation periods

A summary of Texas requirements for intrastate, interstate and international livestock (domestic and exotic), poultry and ratites can be found on TAHC’s website at www.tahc.texas.gov/regs/entry.html

For more information, contact TAHC’s Animal Disease Traceability team at: 1-800-550-8242, ext. 733.
