Richard Thorpe III, M.D., Past President

thorpeRichard Thorpe is owner and operator of Mesa T Ranch, headquartered in Winters, Texas. The ranch has cow-calf and stocker cattle in Runnels and Coleman counties.

Thorpe was born March 10, 1958, in Mobile, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas in 1980 and a medical degree from Texas Tech University in 1984. Thorpe was elected a TSCRA director in March 2006 and previously served on the TSCRA Executive Committee. He is past chairman of TSCRA’s Animal Health Committee.

Thorpe previously served on the board of the Texas Beef Council and as chairman of the Human Nutrition Research Committee. He is a former board director of the Federation Division of National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) and past chairman of Culinary and Beef Innovation for NCBA.

He and his wife, Karen, have two children, Tamara and Scott.
