Ranch gathering season has begun!

More than 500 members, friends and guests joined us at ranch gatherings in Throckmorton, Decatur and Waxahachie last week. Ranch gatherings are free evening events hosted by local industry partners or individuals in the ranching community that feature an evening of fun, food and fellowship. A delicious beef dinner is usually followed by information or education presentations, a talk with your local TSCRA Special Ranger and a few words with TSCRA leaders about what the association has been doing for members in Washington D.C. and the state capitol.
Thanks to R.A. Brown Ranch for hosting us in Throckmorton on March 7. Donnell and Kelli Brown organized a fun night with dummy roping, washer pitching, information and beef. Sponsors included Elanco Animal Health, Central Texas Farm Credit, Nutrition Plus, Capital Farm Credit, Livestock Nutrition Center, Lone Star Ag Credit and Merck Animal Health.
NRS also hosted a gathering at their ranch store in Decatur on Tuesday night. Attendees were treated to a panel discussion moderated by Tom Woodward of Broseco Ranch. Panelists included Rayford Pullen, Pullen Angus; Dr. Ron Gill, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension; and Hugh Aljoe, Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation. Sponsors included Elanco Animal Health, Lone Star Ag Credit, Texas Custom Trailers, McMaster Tractor and Merck Animal Health.
Members and guests in the Waxahachie area spent their Friday night with TSCRA and the World Black Hereford Association at the Ellis County Youth Expo Center. Ellis County Texas A&M AgriLife Agent Mark Arnold prepared a great meal and attendees heard from Congressman Joe Barton about issues that affect them. Sponsors included Texas Farm Credit, Elanco Animal Health, Lone Star Ag Credit, AgTexas Farm Credit Services, Capital Farm Credit, EDC Ag Products and GeneSeek. One lucky member went home with a Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun courtesy of the World Black Hereford Association.
All the folks who joined TSCRA at these events took home a free metal gate sign courtesy of Bayer. Thanks to our hosts, supporters, sponsors and everyone who came out to the gatherings.
Be sure to check our event calendar at tscra.org to see if we’re having an event in your area. New members who join at these events will also get a free gate sign, so bring your friends and neighbors!
