Voters in Missouri have narrowly approved a constitutional amendment allowing for a right to farm, a measure that deeply divided the state and set off an influx of spending and television ads. Results from the Missouri secretary of state showed that with all 3,898 precincts reporting, the amendment prevailed with 50.1 percent of the vote — a difference of 2,528 votes. The proposal, known as Amendment 1, guaranteed the rights of Missouri residents to “engage in farming and ranching practices,” a move supporters hope will preserve the state’s agricultural heritage and guard against attacks from animal welfare groups.Read more at The New York Times…
