A Mississippi man was charged on Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the District Court of Rogers County, Okla., on felony obtaining property with a bogus check. Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Special Ranger Bart Perrier led the investigation.
According to Perrier, the suspect, Stevan Paul Brown, 39, of Randolph, Miss. purchased 4 horses during the monthly August horse sale held at Arrow P Equine Sales in Tulsa. The investigation revealed the 4 horses were allegedly purchased with a personal check on a closed account and then resold the following day in Perkins, Okla. Investigators were unable to recover the horses.
Perrier said Brown was arrested in Creek County, Okla., on a previous felony arrest warrant out of Polk County, Ga. Brown is currently incarcerated in the Polk County Jail in Cedartown, Ga., where he awaits extradition back to Oklahoma where he will be formally charged with this crime. Brown is currently being held on a $2,000 bond.
TSCRA would like to thank Perrier for his work on this investigation.
