Fenton Receives National Ag Communicator Award

For Immediate Release: Feb. 2, 2012
Contact: Marissa Patton, 512-469-0171

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – Carmen Fenton, director of public affairs for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA), was announced Feb. 2 as recipient of the 2011 Excellence in Communications and Public Relations award at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s (NCBA) 2012 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show. The award is presented annually to an NCBA State Affiliate nominee who exhibits superior communications and public relations skills advocating on behalf of the beef cattle industry.
Fenton has been with TSCRA as director of public affairs since 2008. During that time she has taken TSCRA’s external communications to a high level of success. She manages all of TSCRA’s press operations and public affairs matters. Within her first year Carmen increased TSCRA’s press coverage by 300 percent.
“Director of public affairs is an incredibly important job at TSCRA,” TSCRA President Joe Parker Jr. said. “This position is responsible for getting TSCRA’s message out to local, state and national media outlets and making sure that TSCRA members have opportunities to provide valuable and credible information to the public. We are proud to have someone as talented as Carmen on our side and glad to see her hard work recognized on the national level.”
Bill Donald, NCBA president, said that the efforts of state affiliate communications teams are crucial to a successful and cohesive message about the U.S. beef cattle industry and the farmers and ranchers work 365 days of the year to provide beef for a global population.
