Livestock Wx for Feb. 14, 2018: MIDWEEK UPDATE – Increasing chances of rain

Livestock Wx for Feb. 9, 2018: Increasing chances of rain
With the exception of parts of the Gulf Coast and East Texas, heavy rainfall over the past week remained east of Texas and Oklahoma. Almost all of Oklahoma and the western half of Texas remained bone dry. The below image shows rainfall over the last 7-days.

 Increasing chances of rain
Chances for rain will increase this week due to a flow of Pacific moisture ahead of a cold front.
This pattern will trigger on and off showers through much of the week across far eastern Oklahoma and a decent part of Texas. This could be the best chance for rain for quite some time. The image below shows the amount of rain expected from Feb 13 through Sunday, Feb. 18.

Not all spots will receive this needed rainfall — especially far western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. However, there will be a decent chance for much-needed rain over central Texas and eastern Oklahoma.
Rest of February Outlook
We reported last week the medium-range outlooks call for modestly above-normal rainfall over parts of Oklahoma and Texas for the next 2 weeks. The models are still showing this is a possibility.
We will be back on Friday and report how much rain we received from this system along with an update on those medium-range forecasts.
As always, if you have any questions about conditions around Texas and Oklahoma please contact us at [email protected].
