Despite the short week, TSCRA government and public affairs staff were busy on a number of ongoing federal issues.
As expected, conferees from the House and Senate met to begin formal negotiations on the 2018 Farm Bill. TSCRA is working with the two Texas conferees, Congressmen Mike Conaway and Jodey Arrington, to ensure priorities for cattle raisers are maintained. Be sure to check out the editorial released this week by TSCRA Cattle Health and Well-Being Chairman Jerry Bob Daniel on the importance of funding a foot-and-mouth disease vaccine bank in the new farm bill.
Staff are also continuing to monitor and engage on several other previously reported issues, including NAFTA negotiations and WOTUS.
