US Cattle on Feed numbers still climbing

Cattle and calves on feed for slaughter market in the United States for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 10.6 million head on June 1, 2015. The inventory was 1 percent above June 1, 2014.
Placements in feedlots during May totaled 1.71 million, 10 percent below 2014. Net placements were 1.63 million head. Marketings of fed cattle during May totaled 1.71 million, 8 percent below 2014. May marketings are the lowest since the series began in 1996.
Texas
The number of Cattle on Feed on 1,000+ Capacity Feedlots in Texas is down 2 percent from this time last year and up 3 percent from last month. The number of cattle placed on feed in feedlots of 1,000 capacity or more in Texas is up 27 percent over last month and down 16 percent from this time last year.
