Beginning with improvements of the state’s stream gage network, the Texas Water Development Board has used funding aimed at protecting communities from catastrophe to help the state deal with flooding. Other improvements have included the development of the TexMesonet, a weather station network of high-quality data to support flood monitoring, funding critical flood prevention and protection efforts and implementation of year-round flood information resource websites for Texans.
