TSCRA Hosts Young Leadership Series Meeting

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) will hold its Young Leadership Series (YLS) meeting Aug. 12-13, at TSCRA headquarters in Fort Worth. The meeting is a chance for young ranchers, ages 19 to 40, to get an in-depth learning experience from experts about risk management through the use of futures markets and hedging.
Participants will also have the opportunity to develop a basic written marketing plan.
Speakers include Dr. Derrell Peel, marketing specialist with Oklahoma State University; Dr. Steve Koontz, extension specialist, economist/commodity trading with Colorado State University; and representatives from Amarillo Brokerage Co.
The meeting will take place at TSCRA headquarters, 1301 W. Seventh St., Fort Worth, Texas 76102. Participants should RSVP by Aug. 8. To RSVP contact Stacy Fox at [email protected] or call 800-242-7820. A complete agenda can be found at www.tscra.org.
The TSCRA YLS meeting is sponsored by Merck Animal Health.
The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is a 134-year-old trade organization. As the largest and oldest livestock association in Texas, TSCRA represents more than 15,000 beef cattle producers, ranching families and businesses who manage approximately 4 million head of cattle on 75.9 million acres of range and pasture land, primarily in Texas and Oklahoma. TSCRA provides law enforcement and livestock inspection services, legislative and regulatory advocacy, industry news and information, insurance services and educational opportunities for its members and the industry.
