The opportunity to nominate yourself or someone you know to serve on the Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Committee is quickly approaching. Committee members are a critical component of the day-to-day operations of FSA by helping to deliver FSA farm programs at the local level. Farmers who serve on committees help decide the kind of programs their counties will offer and work to make FSA agricultural programs serve the needs of local producers.
From June 15 through Aug. 1, you can nominate yourself or a candidate for your local FSA county committee. Almost anyone participating or cooperating in FSA programs – and of legal voting age – can be nominated.
FSA county committees are a vital link between farmers and ranchers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. And through the county committee system, farmers and ranchers have a voice and their opinions and ideas are heard. Make a difference by nominating yourself or a fellow farmer.
Download the nomination form at fsa.usda.gov/elections or pick one up at your local FSA office. Forms must be postmarked or delivered back to the county office by the Aug. 1 deadline. Voting takes place this fall.
