Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans of resources available for disaster relief

With the governor’s office adding dozens of counties to its disaster declaration due to recent severe weather events, Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans about resources available to help those affected recover from the damage caused by tornadoes, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and flooding.
Persons with Texas property that has been damaged or destroyed by natural disasters can claim an exemption from sales tax on labor charges to repair the damage.
In addition, affected business owners can request a time extension to file a tax return and pay any taxes due. The comptroller will grant these extensions up to 90 days. For more information, or to request a tax filing extension, call 1-800-252-5555.
For a complete list of disaster resources available from the comptroller’s office, as well as from other state and federal offices, visit www.comptroller.texas.gov/disaster.
See Governor Greg Abbott’s proclamations for a list of the counties added to Texas’ disaster declaration.
