The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has posted its Comprehensive Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Management rule proposals on the web and is accepting comments until May 26. CWD is a fatal neurodegenerative disorder that affects some cervid species, including white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, red deer, sika, and their hybrids. In addition to the facilitated process, the new rules are also a result of extensive cooperation between the department and TAHC to protect susceptible species of exotic and native wildlife from CWD.
