TSCRA held its annual Cattle Raisers Convention in Fort Worth March 27-29, welcoming a record crowd of 3,700 members, friends and family for 3 full days of learning and fun. Attendees heard from world leaders, best selling authors and beef industry experts on a wide variety of interesting topics. They also watched live cattle handling demonstrations and shopped the largest industry Expo in the Southwest. TSCRA also elected officers and new members to their board of directors and executive committee.
New directors include Deborah Clark, Henrietta; Lynn Cowden, Skellytown; Ford Drummond, Pawhuska, Okla.; Dan Gattis, Georgetown; Claude Koontz, San Antonio; Frank Price, Sterling City; and Robert J. Underbrink, Houston.
Jay Evans, Austin; Steve Sikes, Fort Worth; and Dennis Webb, Barnhart, were elected as executive committee members.
New TSCRA honorary directors include Emry Birdwell, Henrietta; Richard Gates, Marfa; Alan Lewis, Olney; Frank H. Lewis Jr., Bay City; John L. Sullivan, Galveston; and Rick Tate, Marfa.
All members with honorary titles serve as ex officio members of the board.
TSCRA also re-elected officers President Pete Bonds, Saginaw; First Vice President, Richard Thorpe, Winters; Second Vice President Robert McKnight, Fort Davis; and Executive Vice President/CEO Eldon White, Fort Worth.
“This year’s convention was a huge success with a record breaking number of cattlemen, cattlewomen and friends in attendance,” said Bonds. “There were many informative speaker sessions and great entertainment options for those who visited. I am also very excited about the new leaders who were elected to the TSCRA board of directors. These individuals possess a wealth of knowledge on the cattle industry and I look forward to working with them in their new capacity.”
