Fort Worth, Texas – Well-known cowboy poet, Baxter Black, will speak to the crowd during the Closing General Session of the 2013 Cattle Raisers Convention March 22-24 in Fort Worth.
A former large animal veterinarian, Black is best known for his newspaper column On the Edge of Common Sense and his commentaries on National Public Radio.
Black isn’t the only performer scheduled to entertain convention goers. Saturday, March 23, cattle raisers will gather at River Ranch in the Fort Worth Stockyards for the annual Cattle Raisers Dance. The dance will feature live music from Jake Hooker and the Outsiders as well as dinner catered by Perini Ranch.
Additionally, Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University and TCU’s Ranch Management program will host receptions for agriculture alumni during the 3-day convention.
Other highlights of the convention include the Cattle Raisers Expo, the School for Successful Ranching, and committee breakout session covering a wide range of economic, ranching and wildlife topics.
