The 84th Legislature recently passed Senate Bill 1812, a transparency bill that mandates the Comptroller of Public Accounts to create an online eminent domain database. SB 1812 requires public and private entities with eminent domain authority to report specific information to the comptroller for posting. Comptroller Glenn Hagar’s office is developing the technical infrastructure that will enable those entities to file their information electronically and has asked the affected parties to begin preparing information in advance of submission deadlines.
