Key bills passed during the last legislative session include drought planning, water needs and expedited permitting. New leadership, along with shuffled chairmanships in each chamber resulted in an increase of the agency’s appropriation and strengthened its ability to create innovative solutions to some of the state’s daunting challenges. Among the bills passed into law were projects dealing with aquifer storage and recovery, saltwater desalination and disposal of nonhazardous brine.
