A variety of severe weather impacts were reported across Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas over the past couple of days, including tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail.
Severe storms tend to be scattered in nature and often produce more localized heavy rainfall rather than a widespread uniform rain.
Unfortunately, very little rain fell over western Kansas and both the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles (areas circled-below).
The U.S. Drought Monitor image at right shows a white dashed line that indicates the boundary where heavier rain fell to the east. Note that hardly any rain fell over areas in extreme (red) or exceptional (dark red) drought.
For south-central Kansas, however, there is likely some relief where an inch or so of rain fell.
