WT community mourns passing of agriculture college dean

Dr. Dean Earl Hawkins passed away on Feb. 27, 2018, and was laid to rest in Clarendon March 3. Hawkins served as dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences at West Texas A&M University (WT) in Canyon. He began his career as a professor in Animal Science at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M., later joining WT as the Department Head of Agricultural Sciences. In 2015, he became the dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences at WT. Hawkins will be missed by many in the WT and Panhandle livestock communities.
