FORT WORTH, Texas (August 25, 2026) — Payton Dean Carroll, 25, was arrested Aug. 21 in Chambers County on two theft of livestock warrants stemming from investigations involving nearly $200,000 in unpaid cattle purchases.
Carroll was wanted on warrants out of Austin and Navarro counties, both third-degree felonies. Authorities allege Carroll failed to pay two separate livestock auctions a combined $192,448.49 for cattle purchases.
The Navarro County case stems from $58,857 in cattle Carroll allegedly purchased from a livestock auction and failed to pay for. The investigation was led by the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Special Ranger Chace Fryar.
A separate investigation led by Special Ranger Nathan Hale in Austin County involved $133,591.49 in outstanding accounts from cattle Carroll allegedly purchased from another livestock auction in 2025 and failed to pay for. The Austin County District Attorney’s Office presented the case to a grand jury Aug. 19, resulting in Carroll’s indictment.
Warrants for both cases were issued Aug. 20. TSCRA Special Ranger Mike Boone later developed information indicating Carroll was in the Chambers County area. After confirming his location, Boone and Hale, with assistance from Chambers County Deputy Constable Lt. Tommy Henry, arrested Carroll Aug. 21 on the outstanding warrants.
Carroll was transported to the Austin County Jail, where he was booked on the charges.
The investigations remain ongoing.
