TSCRA Government Affairs Roundup: Primary election results and high-speed rail comments

The 2018 Texas Primary Elections were held on Tuesday. The overwhelming majority of candidates recommended by the TSCRA PAC either won their contests outright or advanced to a run-off election that will be conducted in May. Complete election results can be viewed at the Texas Secretary of State’s website, here. The May Run-Off Election will take place on May 22, with early voting from May 14-18. TSCRA will again release PAC voting recommendations prior to the start of early voting.
TSCRA also this week submitted comments on a 5,600-page Draft Environmental Impact Study conducted the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) on the Dallas to Houston High-Speed Rail Project. In the comments, TSCRA raised serious concerns about detrimental effects on cattle, other livestock, agricultural operations and farmers and ranchers on the path of the proposed rail line.
