The purchase of high quality, multi-dose syringes can make vaccinating cattle easier and more efficient. Both barrel- and bottle-mount styles can work well. When selecting barrel syringes, consider the vaccine dose to determine the best size. For 2 mL products, a 25 mL barrel is best because it allows for a full squeeze of the handle. The 50 mL barrel is best for products that require a 5 mL dose. Automatic syringes with plastic tubing running from the bottle to the syringe should not be used for vaccination; these are better suited for dewormers and antibiotics.
