CattleFax takes a look at the new USDA beef retail prices released this week. The January retail is at $5.604, which was 8.7 cents lower than the December estimate from last month (which did get revised lower), and is 11.1 cents higher than January a year ago. The December retail price was revised lower to $5.678 vs $5.691, down 1.3 cents against the reported price last month. November was unchanged, and October retail was finalized at $5.62. With minor revisions still outstanding, the adjusted 2017 average USDA all-fresh retail price comes in at $5.648. Read more…
