TSCRA government affairs staff continues to monitor a number of issues arising out of Washington, D.C.
Foremost are tariffs imposed by China and Canada on U.S. beef. The tariffs are retaliation for steel and aluminum tariffs implemented by the U.S. The below chart from NCBA outlines the latest actions. Staff will continue to monitor the situation and encourage trade officials to mitigate retaliations against U.S. beef.
It was also announced Thursday that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is stepping down from his post. Under Pruitt, the EPA rolled-back many of the oppressive Obama-era regulations, particularly the onerous Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule. We will closely monitor the situation as the administration works to appoint a successor.
