The USDA slaughter numbers released Friday show commercial red meat production up 3 percent over June 2016 numbers. Texas held steady at 100 percent and Oklahoma rose 6 percent from last year. Commercial slaughter weights dropped slightly from June 2016, from average live weights of 1,334 pounds in 2016 to 1,321 in 2017.
