Policy Conference kicks off in San Antonio

Cattle Raisers gathered in San Antonio Wednesday evening for the first meeting of TSCRA’s 2017 Policy Conference at the Westin Riverwalk Hotel. Association members, leaders and guests heard from Evan Smith, CEO and co-founder of The Texas Tribune, about the recent Texas legislative session and current political climate. Attendees also received a report on the 2016 National Beef Quality Audit and enjoyed a reception.
Thursday’s events included committee meetings on a number of topics important to cattle raisers, to consider new policy and renew existing policies. The evening’s Legislative Reception at the Briscoe Western Art Museum gave attendees an opportunity to interact with elected officials in a relaxed atmosphere and catch up with friends and colleagues.
The conference will come to a close Friday morning with a board meeting to conduct association business and hear an update on the checkoff and Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
