The House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture and Research held a hearing last week to discuss the USDA’s use of the Census of Agriculture authority to acquire farmer’s personal financial information. Members of the Committee expressed support for the Census of Agriculture but brought up concerns with the complexity of a mandatory survey entitled Tenure, Ownership and Transition of Agriculture Land (TOTAL).
