Cattle Raisers talk policy in San Antonio

Cattle Raisers gathered in San Antonio Thursday for a full day of meetings and events at the Westin Riverwalk Hotel. Attendees of the TSCRA Policy Conference heard from speakers about wildfire response across Texas this summer, the latest on the EPA’s Waters of the US rules, property and surface water rights, food safety, risk management, beef market exports and more. Climatologist Evelyn Browning Garriss and James Garriss also gave an update on El Niño and a preview of winter weather trends. The day’s activities wrapped up with an evening reception at the Briscoe Western Art Museum, where Gov. Gregg Abbott gave a few comments on the state of Texas politics. The conference will conclude Friday morning with a board of director’s meeting and a look at the Beef Industry Long Range Plan recently approved by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and Cattlemen’s Beef Board.
