Cattle Raisers Government Affairs Roundup: WOTUS comments, USDA nominations and public outreach

As a function of TSCRA’s commitment to representing ranchers and landowners in Texas and across the Southwest, our governmental and public affairs office is hard at work tackling the issues important to the beef industry.
This week:
TSCRA submitted comments to the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers on Thursday supporting the repeal of the 2015 Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule. TSCRA’s comments can viewed here, along with more information on how you can submit your own comments. The deadline for submission is next Thursday, Sept. 28.
TSCRA also signed on to a letter of support for Greg Ibach’s nomination to be USDA’s Under Secretary of Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP). Ibach is currently the director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture.
Government affairs staff had the opportunity to attend several ranch gatherings across the state this week. In Huntsville, Georgetown and Hempstead, staff were on hand to provide updates on legislative activities here in and Texas and in Washington.
Government affairs staff also spoke at the Madison County Farm Bureau County Convention, where they provided a legislative update on variety of issues important to ranchers.
