Fort Worth, Texas – The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) is hosting its annual Summer Meeting June 25-27 at the Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas. The meeting will serve as an opportunity for cattle raisers to receive an update on recent TSCRA activities and discuss other issues important to ranchers.
The keynote speaker for the luncheon on June 25 is Greg Hanes, Assistant Vice President of International Marketing and Programs for the United States Meat Export Federation (USMEF). Hanes will provide an update on efforts to market U.S. beef to new export markets and how the strong U.S. dollar is affecting exports.
There will be a joint meeting held by the TSCRA Legislative and Tax Committee and the TSCRA Natural Resources and Environment Committee. TSCRA staff will give a legislative update on issues affecting ranchers and private property owners at this meeting.
The TSCRA Animal Health Committee will also meet. Dr. Dee Ellis, Executive Director/State Veterinarian of the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) will be speaking to the committee members about proposed TAHC changes and the impact of the 84th legislative session.
Additionally, the TSCRA Brand and Inspection, Marketing, Wildlife and Agricultural Research Committees will meet to discuss policy.
The schedule has been modified to allow attendees to enjoy their time on the island and fish, play golf, or enjoy the beach. Texas singer and songwriter, Max Stalling will perform at the Cattle Raisers Dinner at the Galveston Yacht Basin.
