Fort Worth, Texas – The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) will host their annual Fall Meeting September 24-26 at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol in Austin, Texas. The meeting will serve as an opportunity for cattle raisers to prepare for the upcoming Texas legislative session and gather for networking and fellowship.
Joe Straus, Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, will give a preview of the 2015 legislative session and discuss issues important to cattle raisers at a luncheon during the meeting. Evan Smith, Editor in Chief and CEO of The Texas Tribune, will expound on the political climate going into the legislative session. Lt. Gen. Joe Weber (USMC-Ret.), Executive Director of the Texas Department of Transportation, will visit with TSCRA members about state transportation issues. In addition, Evelyn Browning-Garriss, Browning Newsletter Climatologist, will give an analysis of weather patterns for the fall and winter seasons.
Policy experts from Washington, D.C. will attend the meeting to update ranchers on important federal issues. Ashley McDonald, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Environmental Counsel, will give an update on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Waters of the United States rule proposal. Additionally, Colin Woodall, NCBA Vice President for Government Affairs, will provide an update on Country of Origin Labeling.
TSCRA committees will meet on Thursday, September 25 to cover a variety of topics critical to Texas cattle producers and landowners.
