Did You Know...?
Answers to common questions about your membership with TSCRA
Members of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) have many questions about their membership — how do I update my address, who needs my new email address, how do I order TSCRA materials? These are just a few of the questions that are emailed to us every day. We send an answer back to the individual email messages, but we thought we would start answering to the whole community.
This year keep an eye on this page to find answers to the questions that members ask.
We suspect that when one person asks a question, there are a hundred more who would also like to know.
Questions About Membership:
Dues status can be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 800-242-7820.
New member packets are typically sent out one to two weeks after your information is submitted to TSCRA.
New member cards are mailed out four to six weeks after you join. Your membership number will be included with your welcome letter, in the event you need to use that to take advantage of any new member discounts.
TSCRA provides a plastic POSTED sign in the package sent to new members. Additional plastic or metal signs may be ordered online from Cattle Raisers Trading Company, tscra.org/crtc.
Visit Cattle Raisers Trading Company online to see all the TSCRA sign options, such as various sizes of POSTED and agritourism signs, and to learn how to personalize your POSTED sign.
Your complimentary 20×12 plastic member gate sign will be sent with your new member packet one to two weeks after joining. If you ordered additional signs separate from your new membership, they are shipped two to three business days after the order is received.
A payment confirmation can be sent via mail or email at the request of the member.
Please send an email to email@example.com or call us at 800-242-7820 and ask for a representative in the membership department. You can also submit any information changes on your annual renewal form.
If requested, address change information is forwarded to the Cattle Raisers Insurance department.
The Cattleman data file is updated when the address is changed; no further action is necessary.
As of now, we still prefer for each membership account to have one primary email address to receive all TSCRA communications. If a second email is requested, please send your request to TSCRA and we will manually add the second email to your membership account.
Five Steps to Greater TSCRA Involvement:
Members of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) are encouraged to become involved. With any step, let a leader or staff member know you are interested, and we will take it from there.
- Show interest.
Network at ranch gatherings, the Summer Meeting, Policy Conference, and/or the Cattle Raisers Convention.
- Serve on a committee.
The eight policy committees and Association Promotion Committee are links between membership and the policies that guide the association.
- Step up to leadership.
Each committee has a chair and vice chair. Another opportunity is as a Regional Association Promotion (RAP) Team Leader, under the Association Promotion Committee. RAP leaders organize ranch gatherings and other member-targeted meetings in their region.
- Run for the board.
TSCRA directors nominate members to serve on the board. The Nominating Committee presents a slate of prospective board members at the membership meeting during the Cattle Raisers Convention.
- Accept the officer call.
Involvement on the board and enthusiastic support of TSCRA may lead the members of the Nominating Committee to consider you for an officer position. The slate of officers is presented to the board of directors for election during the Cattle Raisers Convention.
Questions About Merchandise:
How do I order custom signs?
The TSCRA POSTED sign can be customized to include your ranch name and your brand. These signs can be ordered from Cattle Raisers Trading Company at tscra.org/crtc. Brands can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Request a paper form by emailing email@example.com or calling the office at 800-242-7820.
Where can I find an agritourism sign?
Agritourism signs can be purchased online from Cattle Raisers Trading Company or ordered by phone at 800-242-7820.
Reflective TSCRA decals are available with just a phone call to 800-242-7820 or an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks for showing your TSCRA pride by placing the red reflective decal on your vehicles.
We do not typically get returned or damaged signs that can be used for this purpose. Members are welcome to purchase a sign for display in a classroom, business or at the ranch lodge.
Law Enforcement Questions:
In the January 2012 issue of The Cattleman we answered this question. Go to tscra.org/openrange for an in-depth article on this topic by Susan Wagner, retired senior editor, from April 2004: “Is Texas Still an Open-Range State?”
Brands are registered in Texas by the county clerk of the county in which you run livestock. They will provide a mark and brand application form for you to complete along with a drawing of your brand.
You will need to contact the county clerk’s office in the county where you want to register.
Questions About Member Discounts:
TSCRA members and their families may participate in an exclusive pricing program with Ford Motor Company. The program, also known as X-Plan Vehicle Pricing, allows TSCRA members, spouses, and members of their household to purchase or lease two vehicles per year.
X-Plan prices are clearly marked on the vehicle invoice and are established before visiting the dealership, which removes the need to negotiate a price. Discounts are based on the make and model of the vehicle. Discounts are available on all vehicles and, in some cases, may be more than $5,000 off the retail price. X-Plan pricing may be combined with most other publicly offered incentives resulting in additional savings.
Call TSCRA at 800-242-7820 for details on how to start the process to participate in the X-Plan pricing and to set up your online account with Ford.
Discounts vary depending on the model you are considering. Once you begin the process, you can research the pricing ahead of time to know exactly what you will be getting.
Questions About The Cattleman:
Unfortunately, we do not have back issues for sale.
Yes, The Cattleman has been published continuously since 1914 and we are proud to say we have every issue in bound archive volumes.
Please include as much detail about the article as you can. Once we find it, we will email a scan of the article or mail a hard copy if that is your preference.
We will make every effort to find what you are looking for — we are happy to share!
Questions About Convention:
Recordings from the School for Successful Ranching will be available to those who registered for the 2019 Cattle Raisers Convention. When the files are ready for distribution, TSCRA will share the link to the files with the Convention registrants.
Mark your calendars now for the 2020 Cattle Raisers Convention, March 27 to 29, Fort Worth.
Questions About the Political Action Committee:
The Contributions Subcommittee of the TSCRA Political Action Committee (TSCRA PAC) proposes a candidate endorsement list before the TSCRA PAC board of trustees. The TSCRA PAC trustees then consider whether to approve the proposed recommendations or amend the list.
The best way to engage in the recommendation process of the TSCRA PAC is to contact the Director of Political Affairs, Kaycee Anderson, at 512-469-0171 or email@example.com. Anderson assists the TSCRA PAC’s Contributions Subcommittee in compiling material on candidates for the subcommittee members to consider.
We will put these monthly installments on this page, so you will always know where to go for answers.
If your question does not appear, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
