Wildfires cause Ranching 101 cancellation at La Grange; Pleasanton seminar still to be held

The Ranching 101 program scheduled for Friday, Sept. 9, La Grange, has been cancelled due to wildfires in the area.

The program scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10, Pleasanton, will run as scheduled. Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) will host the seminar at the Atascosa Livestock Exchange. The seminar will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.

While the seminar is designed specifically for people starting off in the ranching business, anyone interested in the cattle business is invited to attend.

The seminar will give participants practical, sound guidance on the tools and equipment needed to get started in ranching; how to properly match livestock and natural resources such as pasture and water; basic herd health, nutrition and animal care; managing business finances; and theft prevention. This brief course will arm any livestock owner with information they can immediately use and benefit from.

The Atascosa Livestock Exchange is at 2002 Hwy 97 W, Pleasanton, Texas 78064.

Admission is free and lunch will be served. A complete agenda can be found at www.tscra.org.

Participants should RSVP by Sept. 8 to Stacy Fox at sfox@tscra.org or by calling 800-242-7820.

TSCRA’s Ranching 101 seminars are sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health.
